I haven't been able to get LiveUpdate to read my dongle. It prompts me to install the Read Dongle ActiveX module. I do so, and then it still goes to the "DongleNotDetected" page. I've double checked all the tips listed to ensure that I am doing everything as I should be. But still no luck!

However, Stardraw has no problem reading the dongle. For when I remove it and start the program it reverts back to no print/save mode. Just for kicks, I turned off all the Internet Security options in IE (especially the security related to ActiveX modules) and even disabled our companies firewall temporarly. Same results. The funny thing it, whenever I return to LiveUpdate to try again, it always asks me to install the ReadDongle module. Could it just be failing to install for some reason?

I regularly check for viruses/spyware and as far as I know my system is clean. The dongle is a parallel port style one. Not sure if you guys have moved to usb dongles or not.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Jeff,

Welcome to the forum. I see that you have been a Stardraw user for over 5 years now and I see that you have a current subscription to Stardraw A/V.

We moved to USB dongles about 2 years ago now and we'd be happy to swap out your parallel dongle to a USB one free of charge.

As for your ReadDongle problem, it looks as though the Stardraw ReadDongle.dll is not being registered properly when it is downloaded.

Please close all browsers, run Windows Explorer, go to windows\system32 and delete any Stardraw xxx DLLs (not the windows\system32\Stardraw directory). Among them you will see Stardraw ReadDongle.dll.

Then, run Internet Explorer and try the LiveUpdate again.

I believe that a Stardraw DLL must have become corrupted or overwritten by a previous installation of Stardraw somehow.

When you do the LiveUpdate, it will download a fresh set of files.

Please let us know if this fixes your problem.

Thanks! That worked like a champ!

And I would love to take you up on that Dongle switch out offer. If you or one of your associates could e-mail me the details of how we can make that happen, that would be great.

Thanks again!

Glad that worked for you.

As regards your dongle replacement, simply email techsupport @ stardraw.com with where you would like your dongle shipped to and we'll get one out to you in the next few days.
