Hi Fred,

I understand your frustration. I’m afraid that in the absence of a CAD drawing from the manufacturer we are unable to publish anything further at present.  CAD drawings are especially important for a panel mount symbol as panels is the environment in which you are most likely to take a dimension.

As you probably already know, you can draw anything in Stardraw.  We have also included many commonly used pre-drawn parts such as knobs, connectors, buttons and faders etc. in the Generic Components library for the Rack and Pictorial environments. This is an excellent resource if you need to create your own symbols.

Stardraw can open a .DXF or .DWG (AutoCAD) file, so you could open up the cut out drawing you mention and use it to create your own symbol. You can also edit any existing Stardraw symbol. So one possible solution could be to edit the generic ‘20A-Duplex Socket Outlet’ which can be found under: Panels\Generic Hardware\Connectors\Miscellaneous - and add the cut out information from your .DWG to the Punching layer.  You would at least then have a symbol with the cut out information you require and this shouldn’t take many minutes to complete.

The ability in Stardraw to read, write and edit a .DXF or .DWG means you can of course create your own symbols in AutoCAD if you’d prefer, you can then open them up in Stardraw and save them as your own symbols in under ‘My Libraries’.

I hope this helps.

Ok,

it is possible to you to create them without info from them?

I've got already a .dwg of the cutting size of that box...

I need to do the drawing in the next few day...

Otherwise i will use autocad.... It will suck to use it when i've spend a lot of buck to buy this software for don't have any assle like this one... :-(

I was thinking the library was more complete...

Hi Fred,
We’ve been unable as yet to obtain enough information about these products to create high detail symbols.  We’re in the process of contacting both manufacturer’s again and will continue to monitor the situation regarding your symbols requests. As soon as we receive the information we require, we’ll create and publish new symbols.  As we are somewhat at the mercy of the manufacturer’s – I’m unable to predict when this will be I’m afraid.
If you have any influence at either company and are able to help, a quick email or phone call to them could well speed things along and would be very much appreciated.
The blank symbols you refer to are what we term ‘generics’ and are published as placeholders, designed to be replaced with high detail symbols as soon as the manufacturer provides us with the information to do so.
Generally, if we have all of the information we need for a product to hand, we can turn a symbols request around in as little as 24 hours.
You can check to see status of your symbols requests by visiting the symbols request pages at www.stardraw.com and clicking on the manufacturer of the products you have requested.
I hope this is helpful.

Regards
Kevin Harrison

Hi,

i'm in a panel design that i have to done quick (in the next few day). I've just made a symbol request for a Leviton 5325-E duplex receptacle that should an easy shot for doin it...

I also made a request for a Phonic PM-801 mixer that exist in the library but it is only a blank 1U with PM-801 writed on it... It is possible to have them the real thing?

Do you think it can be done fast?

I find a lot of other drawing that was like that...

When the symbol is available how do we know it? Do we receive an email or something?

Regard,

Fred
