Reference materials will be coming soon.  In the meantime do you have any questions about specific aspects of the functionality of Import Equipment List?

[Edit] A topic has been added to the Help file; check the index, under Import Equipment List.  There is also a movie called "Import Equipment List", #26 at https://www1.stardraw.com/stardraw/sd7/movies

A GUID (globally unique ID) is created by Stardraw Design 7 to uniquely identify each product instance in the project.

W‌hen you export an Equipment List, the first column in the generated spreadsheet is the GUID for each product instance in your project.

S‌ince the GUID is system-generated, you should not edit‌‌ or copy GUIDs - leave them exactly as they are.

I‌f you want to add product instances by importing from the equipment list, copy the Manufacturer, Model Number and Description fields for the products you want, but leave the GUID field blank; on import a new product instance will be created in the project and at this point a GUID will be assigned.

N‌ote that to add a product in this way, the Manufacturer, Model Number and Description values must exactly match a product or UDP that is already in the library.

I‌ hope this is helpful but if I've missed the point please do feel free to email the pr‌oject file (.s07) and equipment list (.xls) files to techsupport@stardraw.com.

Hi i have been modifiying My equipement list through Open office since yester day.. and importing it in SD Design 7.3 ( demo version ) from time to time yesterday everything was fine.

And today i receive a french message saying : La référence d'objet n'est pas définie aèa une instance d'un objet.

which basicly means : The jobject's references is not refferenced to any object instance..

i am not sure what would cause this issue..

i have not touched the guid...

thank you.

PS :
i am liking the product so far but i have found a few anoying glitches.. i might like to report them as well ...we are looking here at moment factory to buy a few liscences in febuary for are system architects and integrators

Thanks for your post.

Can you tell me exactly what you were doing when the 'object reference' error was displayed?  For example, were you in the Reports view and, if so, which report was selected?

Can you also email us the .S07 project file and .XLS equipment list so that we can reproduce your actions and attempt to reproduce the same issue?  The files can be emailed to techsupport@stardraw.com

Thank you.

i also have a new probleme i started over and created a other version... ( same project ) here i exported a working equipement list..one to modify and one for back up that i havent touched at all..

For those following this thread, the issue appears to be that after generating the Equipment List, user edits performed in Excel, probably a Sort action without all relevant columns being selected, caused mismatches between the Product Instance GUIDs and the other data used to describe those products.  The fix was to validate that the right GUID was associated with the right product details.
