Hi,

I used to be able to scale symbols in AV2007 easily by locking in the aspect ratio. Is this feature gone from SD7? It is very useful especially when I'm scaling imported pictures which I do not wish to distort.

Also, when I manipulate a 24-bit BMP in SD7 (e.g.rotate) and then wish to undo, the picture disappears. If I scale the picture and then wish to undo, the actual size gets back to original size but the picture itself gets cropped.

Thank you,

Regards,

Pasquale

Pasquale,

Yes, you are correct - you cannot scale symbols in Stardraw Design 7. This is by design and the fact that Stardraw AV 2007 did this is an anomaly. Symbols are created at a specific size so that they can interoperate with each other and are consistent. For example, scaling a 19" Rack doesn't make sense because then no other Rack Mountable product can fit in it correctly.

You can scale images and the image handling capabilities in Stardraw Design 7 are far superior than Stardraw AV 2007 - complete with Brightness, Contrast & Transparency and, of course, scaling and rotation.

We've reproduced the problems you are seeing with Undo of rotated images and we are working on a fix for this.

Hi david!

I agree, i Also miss the possibillity to scale objects. I think you should have it. One of the purposes with SD7 was that it should be Project focused. I'm now in a rather big project were i'm gonna create maybe 40-50 drawings within this project. I would therefor wish to have them placed in the same project file. Some of the drawing are not focused on products but can be detail of a mounting bracket for instance or a placement of a connector box. For me i now have to draw these designs or drawing in AV2007. do some scaling there and save them. Then go to SD7 and import that drawing. It's not a popular work around for me and i loose time doing this also.

Best regards

Hi David,

Thank you for your response. Back to scaling images, is it possible to lock the aspect ratio when scaling? This feature was available in AV2007 and extremely useful. I like to put in floor plans on an underlying layer and they are sometimes provided to us as images by the client. We need to scale them to make it fit our block schematic layout. The scaling of the plan image should not distort the aspect ratio of such image. Thanks

Yes, I think we should add the ability to lock the Aspect ratio by holding down the SHIFT key as you resize the image.

We'll add this to the development schedule.
