I'm not sure if anyone else is using Design7 for the purpose that I am about to explain.
If there is anyone I would love to hear your feedback.

So, we often need to convey room/building wiring information to other companies... especially electricians, since they tend to 90% of the time take care of running the in-wall cables; cables such as coaxial, Cat, fiber-optic, Speaker cables, so on and so forth.
For this reason we often draw-up Cable-Run drawings. The drawings are essentially just cable runs drawn over the room/building layout illustration desired runs and labels. They consist of no equipment for the cable runs to connect to, just simple labels and diagrams (where to and where fro).
Attached is a simple CablePlanDemo to illustrate what I mean.

The issue that I am having... (or to put in better words), the result that I would like to achieve is the ability to export a cable schedule for such a purpose.
Normally cables that aren't attached to anything won't show up in the cable schedule. In my case, I have entire drawings where not a single cable is attached/linked to a Block-Schematic-Symbol.
I can very well understand the reason why unlinked cable do not show up in the cable schedule, however I think that it would be quite useful to have another option to "export all cables to schedule". With an option like "export all cables to schedule" I could easier convey room by room in-wall cable plans and one could also easily illustrate spare cables and A/C cables often needed on a cable schedule.

thanks,

Eris,

We've now publihed an update to Stardraw Design 7 that exports all Cables - whether they are connected or not:

Hello David,

The update for exporting cable plans of cables with or without attached blocks is great!
Although I do suggest the ability to export attached-cables-only as an option for those who need it.

On a second note:
There was a second part of the update that has dramatically changed the ways one can position the cable labels within a drawing (I can no longer place the labels away from the cables!), as well as removed the option for near, far or center positioning. This upgrade has left me at a stand still on some of my drawings and completely impeded my ability to label cables the way I please. I do not understand the purpose of this ungrade at all. It has not added any new feature, only restricted existing ones.
I really need the ability to place labels where I freely will them to be.
I will be opening a new thread for others to see based on this major Issue.

Attached is a CablePlan and a schematic Drawing to illustrate my labeling issues with the new update.
The following post will have a schematic Drawing attached.

thanks,

Eris,

As for exporting connected cables only - I suggest that you sort or Filter out the non-connected cables in Excel when you open the Cable Schedule report. This is much easier and more powerful that trying to add extra export options for whether a cable is connected to zero, one or two products in Stardraw Design 7.

As for the cable labelling feature - we have responded to your subsequent forum post indicating that a fix has now been published.
