Hello,

I use a custom report to extract the Start and End labels to be used for printing off cable labels, and this works well. However, when I use the Edit Attributes tool to sequentially number the cables, the Excel report populates the cells with a value that isn't what I need. Example, in Excel, I see my labels A-101, A-102, etc. but when I select the cell, the value in the cell is 1, 2, etc.

How can I convert this custom number in Excel to text?

Thanks

Yes, that's correct: the value might be "1" but the number formatting displays this value as "A-101".

To convert the formatted number into a string that contains the formatting simply save your spreadsheet as a .txt file, close it and reopen the text file.  You will see the value is now "A-101".

Kind regards,
