I have had more than one instance of working on a drawing in Stardraw AV and needing to add a new symbol, found that the New Symbol Wizard Button was greyed out. Saving the drawing and restarting enabled the Wizard button. Did I hit something that turned this off?

Thanks, Bill Tejral

I had modified the Block Schematic template. This seems to be the trouble. I will post again when I find the problem.

Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill,

That sounds right - the Symbol Wizard is only available in documents based on the Block Schematic template.  Technically, the way that this is done is by the use of an attribute (Name: "Environment", Value: "Block Schematic") in the Block Schematic template.

If Environment=Block Schematic the Symbol Wizard will be available. If the Environment attribute does not exist, or has some other value, the Symbol Wizard will be disabled.

If you have broken the Block schematic template, a quick fix would be to rename it, or delete it, then perform a LiveUpdate - this will install a new default template file.

Kind regards,

Rob,

The lesson I learned is if you get distracted, do not start typing in the attributes page unless you are replacing Name. I thought it was suspicious when I had a report entry for Block Schematic.

Thanks,Bill
