A couple of things:
1) The display precision of measurement units in editboxes is an application-wide setting defined under Options | Preferences | Precision. If you want to enter 2 decimal places, ensure that Precision is set to "2 Decimal Places" or higher.
2) In the Block and Pictorial Schematic environments the default grid size and the standard spacing between IO stubs on symbols is 2.5mm. It's a good idea to ensure that your grid size is is a multiple of 2.5mm, e.g. 5mm if bigger, 1.25mm if smaller. If the grid is not a multiple of 2.5mm, IO stubs will not align to gridpoints and this will make it difficult to produce a really slick drawing.
3) In these environments I would recommend working in Millimeters (Options | Preferences | Millimeters). Since these environments and their symbols are not 'to scale', it does not really matter what measurement units are used because you won't be taking measurements from the drawing. However, if you feel you really must work in Inches, and since 1mm = 0.03937", ensure that your grid is sized in multiples of 0.09842" (i.e. 2.5mm)
I hope this is helpful Kind regards,Rob RobinsonStardraw.com
Are you working with the right symbols in the right environment? e.g. If you're working on a Block Schematic document, are the symbols you're using from the Blocks library?
Feel free to post the drawing that's causing your concern.
I am. Just sometimes it would help to have a different grid size. Also, it seems that I cannot enter the grid size I want in the dialog box you speak of. I can adjust up and down with the arrows, but not enter a value. (I had a default value of .39" X&Y, tried to change that to .2". It changed that to 2")
You can set the grid to be whatever size you want - just doubleclick anywhere on the document to display the Document Properties dialog and go to the Grid tab, or rightclick and select document.
However, the grid for each environment is optimized to work with the appropriate symbols, so I'm surprised that you're experiencing a problem. Say I working on a drawing, and I need to zoom in on somthing. A a certian point, my grid dissapears making it difficult to align objects. Is there a way to re-set the grid to correspond to the size of the object I'm woking on? Is this making sense?
