Hello,

When i try to import a Viso exported DFX/DWG file stardraw crashes, giving me the following error:

Runtime Error / Program: ..... stardraw audio/stardraw.exe / R6025 - pure virtual function call.

Tried allready to open files in acad 2002 , and export it as an older dwg/dxf file, but still getting the same error.

The original files we're viso's but we've only got the PDF's from the original designer.

So we've converted them to WMF files, so we could open them somehow, and try to export them to DXF/DWG.

We've also tried the pdf to dwg export but that also didn't work.

Any one has any suggestion?

Thanks

Hi Jelte,

Please ensure you are using the latest version of your Stardraw application:

Hello Rob,

Thanks for you reply,

But i did allready install the latest version this morning, but still have the same problems with these specific files.

Just to exclude if it wasn't a corruption in the software/installation i've tried another dwg file i had in the archive, from which i knew it would work, and this would import in stardraw.

So it has something to do with the files i'm trying to import at this moment.

Hope you have any suggestions.

Thanks,

Jelte

Hi Jelte,

Since you have tried the import with other DWG files and it works fine, and since you only experience problems with these specific files, clearly it is something to do with the files themselves.

I suspect that it is the process that you have used to create them that is at fault.

Feel free to upload a file and we can take a look, but given the process you have described, I suspect these are not well-formed DWG files and we will be unable to do much with them.

Hey Rob,

Here's the file, i hope you can give an answer what the problem is. It could save me a lot of work, for this new project i'm diving into. If not then i have to make new drawings for them.

Thanks.

Regards

Jelte

Hi Jelte,

We think the problem is that the DWG was created as a version later than DWG 2005 (which is the latest version that is currently supported).

Using AutoCAD we opened your file, saved it as R2000 .DWG and it now opens fine in Stardraw - see attached.

For your other files, simply save them as DWG version 2005 or earlier.

Hi Rob,

Thank you very much for the your help, this will save me lot's of time.

About the files they were created with the PDF2VISIO, and then saved in viso 2003 to a DWG file.

Don't know exactly which format it was saved, doesn't say in visio.

We had to do it this way since we didn't get the original visio drawings from the original designer, only the PDF file.

Just wondering which version of Acad did you use to open it and save it as a pre 2005 version ?

I tried it with acad 2002, but that didn't do the trick.

Again thanks for your help, keep up the good work.

Best regards,

Hey Rob,

Been trying to convert the other file's but it deoesn't seem to work properly, i'm getting empty screens.

Could you explain in short, how you exported them from autocad ? Did you use some special settings ?

Thanks,

Best regards

Hi Jelte,

We used AutoCAD 2007 to open the .DWG you posted and simply saved it out again as a R2000 .DWG.

I'm guessing that there's a hatch object in your converted .DWG that your earlier version of AutoCAD doesn't like.

Try doing the following in AutoCAD.

Open the .DWG, Select all objects and explode.

Repeat explode until there are no more objects to be exploded (usually 2 or 3 explosions should do it).

Type: QSELECT at the command prompt and hit Enter.

In the Quick Select Window under Object Type - select Hatch, then choose 'Select All' as the Operator - Click OK and then hit the delete key.  The command prompt will display the number of hatches that have been erased. Note: Looking at the original drawing you posted here - hatches didn't form any visible part of it - I would double check at this point that this is true for the drawing you're now trying to convert and that you're not loosing any information.

Finally save the drawing as a R2000 .DWG and open in Stardraw.

Please post back and let us know how you get on?

Kind regards

Kevin Harrison
