Ok, so I can easily enter text. A label here, a title there. No problem.  Now I want to add a number of notes. There doesn't seem to be any easy way to do this. It seems like i can do it using the text tool, but if I make a mistake it is not easily corrected. Is there an easier way to add a large amount of text to a drawing. FOr example if I wanted to add the following: (See! I can cut and paste into here, why not into a drawing!)Smile

Keyed Notes:

1.       Provide 1 - Category 5 communications cable.

2.       Provide 1 - West Penn #293 No. 18 AWG twisted shielded pair for each classroom

or area as indicated in device matrix, individually home-run to new punch down

Blocks. Maintain continuity of shield. Tap Speakers as indicated in device matrix.

3.       E.C. to provide dedicated 20 amp isolated ground circuit.

4.       Daisy chain speakers as indicated in device matrix. Provide 1 - West Penn #293 No. 18 AWG twisted shielded pair for each circuit.  Tap Speakers as indicated in device matrix.

5.       Not Used.

6.       Locate per owners direction.

7.       Not Used

8.       Wall plate by PSC. Single gang electrical box by EC. Locate per owners direction.

9.       All terminations to be made on Telco “66” type punch down blocks mounted on ¾” plywood backboard. All cables to be labeled with current room numbers.

10.     Provide 2 - West Penn #293 No. 18 AWG, Twisted Shielded pair.

11.     Provide 1 - West Penn #293 No. 18 AWG, Twisted Shielded pair for each existing speaker circuit.

General Notes:

          1.       All part numbers refer to non-plenum wire. Contact PSC for Plenum part numbers.

2.       Pre-test all “existing to remain” and “re-use existing” devices prior to start of demolition. Document test. Contact PSC @ 585 -742-1280 to arrange test.

3.       Drawing for submittal use only. Not for construction until approved by consulting engineer.

Stardraw does support pasting text into a drawing.

To see it in action, run notepad.exe, write some text, select all the text, copy the text to the clipboard and then paste it into the drawing.

The problem maybe that Stardraw doesn't support pasting RTF or HTML or Word and just supports plain text.

Tried that. Does not seem to work.

In Notepad I highlight the text, right click and choose "Copy"

I maximize Stardraw, right click and choose paste. This brings up the paste dialog titled "Select Array Type" I leave the "Paste" button engaged and click "OK."

I get a single line of little boxes and crosses and lines with little boxes on top of them.

Hmm, looks like you've found a problem - sorry about that, we'll look into that.

However, the workaround is to enter some text as normal, edit the text by double clicking on it and then paste in the text into the dialog and press ok.

Ok, Was able to use the work around. Editing in the text edit dialog is a pain though. Let me know if you come up with a fix.

Would be nice to be able to add a "Text box" the way I do in visio, where I can edit right on the drawing....

Thanks for your help.
