Yes, the Stardraw LiveUpdate does use ActiveX controls. All our controls are digitally signed so you know that they have been written and tested by us.
As to whether it will work in a restricted environment is another question. If you wish to install any software, then you need to have administrative privilege on that machine. You will require the same privilege to update any software on your machine as well.
It really depends on your IT corporate policy on updating software. If they wish to prevent anyone from installing or updating any software before it has been tested and verified in-house, then you will be unable to run the LiveUpdate process. If your IT department can trust updates from us that have been Digital signed, then they can run the LiveUpdate process under a seperate administrative account on your machine whenever you wish to update the software.
We would be happy to discuss in detail, direct with your IT department, on which DLLs in which directories are updated and which registry locations are modified during the LiveUpdate process.
Alternatively, please feel free to post to this forum any other questions you may have.
