Hi when i import a .DWG file into plan view and set the scale to 1 unit = 1m as it was drawn in CAD the inserted image is tiny.  If I then zoom in to it and add a title block the title block is placed as a tiny object at the other side of the screen and the CAD image just disappears.  Please can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

When setting the import Unit scale it helps to know what the original Unit setting in the DWG is.  In AutoCAD the drawing Unit of measurement can be anything 1mm, 1cm, 1m, 3", 3' etc. For metric architectural plans the Unit is normally set to 1mm but it depends entirely on the author.

If the DWG Unit setting is unknown and you have imported the drawing and you suspect the size is wrong, create a dimension against something whose length you know.  For example a single doorway will be about 1m so if the Dimension reads 1000m you'll know that the import Unit you've chosen is 1000 times larger than it should be e.g. you've chosen 1 Unit = 1m instead of 1 Unit = 1mm, so just re-import the DWG using the correct Unit setting.

Hi the dims are correct on the stardraw file when it is imported.  I will send over the file now.

Hi Dan,

For those following the thread, the problem lay with a custom Title Block template that had been overwritten by another project file.  Fixing the Title Block template solved the issue.
