I've noticed this behavior recently that I've never seen before in SD7.3:

I create a new user defined product:

It looks fine in the editor, but when I drag it from my library into a project, it displays incorrectly:

Any idea what is wrong here?

Hi Don,

Yes, there is a feature called Enhanced Text Mode that overrides the IO labels and other internal text in Block Schematic symbols with the value specified in the Document Properties Grid for IO Label Height (near the bottom of the Properties Grid).  So, when a symbol is dragged into the drawing the specified text height is applied to the IO labels etc in the symbol.

This feature exists to ensure consistency of text height in symbols where the source data might contain inconsistencies and also gives a quick way to change the height of IO Labels globally in a drawing.

To avoid the issue you've described you can either:
a) set the text in your UDP symbols to be the same height as that specified in IO Label Height (i.e. the correct height for the drawing), or
b) disable Enhanced Text Mode by unchecking it in the View menu.

I hope this is helpful.

Kind regards,
