Is there a way to change the order (currently alphabetical) that the properties display in the Available symbols Library .
for example from left to right
Location | Function | Ident | Destination

Hi Toby,

I know this isn't the answer you were hoping for but no, the display order of columns in the Available Symbols Palette is fixed and can't be changed after a project has had a product into it.

Kind regards,

Rob

What about before a product is added to the project ?

Hi Toby,

Well, the columns in the Available Symbols Palette are built up based on the contents of the project, so without products there are no columns.

When the first product finds its way into the Available Symbols Palette the columns are built up to respect the Attributes that product contains in the order Manufacturer, Model Number, Description, Name and then Attribute1, Attribute2....AttributeN in alphabetical order.

If, later, further products appear that have extra Attributes, those columns are appended to the current list of columns, also alphabetically.

So the only way to define an order would be to set Attribute names that happen to display alphabetically in the order you want.  (Note: I'm not suggesting you should do this, it's just the consequence of the way things work at the moment).

We'd be happy to consider adding a way to set display order in the Available Symbols Palette.  How important a feature would this be to you?

Kind regards,

Thanks for the info,  Being able to order the columns and filter them would be a very handy addition.  With over 400 connectors in a job plus the rack end so 800 connectors the list is massive before we even add plates and active gear.  We dont use cost price , sale price etc as we just import the job back into our ERP once it designed.  Being able to have "Ident" ( custom field for numbering / engraving) , Location, Function, Room, Destination etc all next to each other in the list would be super handy.  The other thing we have done to make layering easier is we have changed the layers on our custom templates and symbols to be Circuit Path Audio, Circuit Path Data Circuit Patch DMX and so on so they all appear in the layer list next to each other.
