Hi Rob, and the others,

I'm back....

I made that mistakes in the past and Oops I did it again !
But this time after all the improvement (new website, new version and so on) I would have expected this to be sorted out....well no.
It is a long story but bottom line I make a complete drawing not noticing that my dongle was not inserted. As I wanted to save my 3 hours work I discovered the save button was greyed!
So I inserted my dongle in and nope!!! I tried to log in and not better.
Since I already had that misfortune in the past and lost all my work, I open my lap top, installed Stardraw on it, INSERTED THE DONGLE, waited an hour to get the library sychronised (no way to stat anything before it is done) opened a teamviewer session to my desktop and copy and  paste all contend from the desktop to the laptop, and hated you guys for an hour only.

Can we not just have a big flashy red warning to inform us that the dongle was not inserted? or better have stardraw to reactivate the save button when the dongle in eventually inserted?

Thanks

Christian

Hi Chris,

There is a simple solution - choose Help | About Stardraw.  This will recheck for the dongle and enable Save and Print when the dongle is found (one of the many improvements we have made over the years... Wink )

Welcome back, to Belgium and to the forum!

Kind regards,

Hi Rob,

I could create a new post, but since i'm having sort of the same problem, i'm replying on this on.
It would be nice to have some RED light telling me the dongle isnt inserted or éven better an error message when trying to save instead of no message at all.

Cause sometimes the dongle isn't recognized properly, or it plugged in to late, and you think you save the project with CTRL-S , and close the program.
The next day opening the project, all changes are not in.so you can start over again.

It wouldn't be so hard to implement, saves all of us some irritation and extra work.

Regards,
Jelte

Hi Jelte,

Thanks for your thoughts.  We plan to improve messaging and safeguards when trying to save in the absence of a dongle; this will happen in an upcoming update.

Kind regards,
