We purchased the Panel Layout module when we bought StarDraw. At the time, someone else in the company (not in the CAD group) was laying out panels for interconnects between racks. They left the company and I have been asked to change some of the panels for some new system designs. I went to the BTX website and they have been purchased by ADI. A search on their website did not have any links to download their panel creation software. A Google search did produce an old URL to download the BTX software. However, it looked like probably 2012 or 2013 vintage. The installation failed as it couldn't find the .NET framework version 3.0 or 3.5. No surprise - I have version 8.0.300. I know you wrote the software for BTX (and Front Panel Express, too, I believe). Is there a way to read BTX files with the Panel Layout module? I haven't a clue what the files contain and which ones may still be current or which ones need updating. Many thanks.

Kind regards,

Hi Dick,

Stardraw Design 7.4 cannot open BTX files directly, but if your former colleague saved/exported the designs as .DWG, and you have the DWG Import/Export utility as part of your Stardraw Design 7.4 license, then you will be able to import those.

Actually, there is a trick to opening btx files in Stardraw Design 7.
If you Open a Project in Stardraw Design 7 and choose "All File Types", you can choose the btx file.
It will load correctly although the Title of the Drawing may be lost but everything else should be fine.
If you have a btx file that doesn't load correctly, please email it to techsupport@stardraw.com and we'd be happy to have a look at it.

Thank you so much, David! That worked like a champ!
