in panel layout i want to do an open on the middle of the top rectangle with curve instead of a 90deg corner for grouping 8  XLR connector where i will write audio input (the 8 xlr connectors will be label 1 thru 8)

As we discussed in the webinar, one way to do this is by using the Bezier tool.  In the Help file refer to Beziers, and see also the Tutorials, lesson 5.
