Hi SD 7 Team

How far off introducing a clouding tool are you?  More and more commonly plans need to be submited with revision clouds in line with AutoCad and BIM.  Does not need to be fancy or tracking just a cloud tool and maybe a text box or call out tool.  I know you have been looking at how SD tracks revision ans have added a revision system to the future wish list which is great but a clound tool would be super usefull and time saving rather thatn having to print to PDF then open in PDF and cloud.

Hi Toby,

Thanks for your post.  Yes, we do want to add a simple Cloud tool but at this stage we can't project when that might be (we never publish future development or release dates).

However, there is, today, a very simple way to create a Cloud object that can be used in any drawings, for example;
  1. Begin with an Arc with, say, a start angle of 225 and a sweep angle of 90.
  2. Copy and use rightclick Paste Array to build one side of the Cloud object with, say, 20 copies of the arc.  Group the arcs.
  3. Copy and paste 3 duplicates of the group and rotate & move these to build a square Cloud.
  4. Export as DWG, saving to a custom Symbol folder (see the movie "Customizing the Symbol Browser", #23 at https://www1.stardraw.com/stardraw2/sd7/movies)
Now you can use this Cloud in any drawings, simply by dragging it in from the Symbol Browser, and resizing it to be the appropriate size and shape (change Handle Behavior, in the Properties Grid, from "Move" to "Resize").

I hope this provides a good interim solution until a freeform Cloud tool becomes available.

Kind regards,
Rob Robinson

Heres another one, can you add the arch tool to the schematic page.  Its really handy fo showing patch cables as opposed to installed cables

Hi Toby,
Can I ask you to send a sample drawing or two to techsupport@stardraw.com that shows how you're representing these patch cables today, or how you would like to represent them?  We'd like to understand exactly what your intention is - thanks.

Kind regards,
