To keep my question simple, I'd like input on how to draw and/or measure a simple two-line angle.

Think of an "L" on a page; then open or close it somewhat and measure the resultant angle.

I can't find a way to do that.  Am I missing something or is this a 'future enhancement suggestion'?

Hi Ray,

Thanks for your post - correct, there isn't currently an Angular (Radial) Dimension tool.

However, depending on your circumstance you could use the Ellipse tool to demark the angle, e.g. by using Snap to Path to align the start and end points of the arc to the lines in question, and the Sweep Angle property of the arc tells you what the angle is.  If using this method you'll find it easiest to put the intersection of the lines on a gridpoint so that you can position the centerpoint of the Ellipse at the intersection easily, and be sure to hold down the Shift key when you draw the Ellipse so that it is perfectly circular.

I hope this is helpful.

Kind regards,

Nice.  Thanks for the tip.

Any hope of formalizing the aforementioned 'tool' in a subsequent release....?  Wink

Hi Ray,

Where there's life, there's hope, and all suggestions/requests are fed into the development wishlist.  As you probably know, we can't comment on upcoming features or release dates, but I will say that all recently added features have been based on feedback from the user community.

Kind regards,

Can you please elaborate on the process to draw an angle using the available tools? I'm not following the steps, and has there been any updates or an easier way to accomplish this? Thanks!

Can you clarify exactly what you mean by "draw an angle"?  Is your desire to e.g.
  1. Have 2 lines at a particular angle to each other,
  2. Have an arc of a particular sweep angle,
  3. Measure an angular dimension,
  4. Something else?

I am looking to measure an angular dimension. Really looking to draw two lines to show the horizontal viewing angle on a floorplan view. Thanks!
