I am going to have to get a beefier office machine. Does SD7 use the video card much to process (like a 3-d program might)? My guess is that it doesn't, and that what I really need is a lot of SDRAM.

Correct - Stardraw Design 7 is not nearly as video-intensive as a multi-frame-per-second 3D application; any decent graphics card with reasonable dedicated memory will do.
