Hi there!

I'm a newbie at Stardraw, and it seems i'm having a hard timefiguring out how the grid/origin thingy should be set up correctly - is anyone able to give me some quick pointers?

Hi JP,

The grid is set up optimally when using the templates that come with the Stardraw application, i.e. when you choose File | New.

Can you tell me what application you're using and what specifically the problem is?  Feel free to attach a drawing that exhibits the problem.

Sorry for that, forgot to mention i'm on a demo version of Stardraw A/V Smile

I finally figured out the whole grid thingy when i downloaded and used the title blocks as BG, and just worked from there!

I'm a new emplyee at one of .no's biggest installation companies, and these guys are currently doing their designs using Visio/AutoCad.

I love the versatility of your app - hope i can convince them to make the switch Wink

Hi JP,

The best procedure to follow when starting a drawing is to select File | New and then select the environment you want to work in, e.g. Block Schematic, then insert the symbols you want, insert interconnections using the Dogleg and Cable tools, and finally add the Title Block.

You should scale the Title Block to fit the drawing, not the other way around: if you scale the drawing it will fall off the grid and be difficult to edit later.  Also, the default Page Setup ensures that your print will fit to page, regardless of the drawing size, or page size selected.  To scale the Title Block you will need to check Options | Scale Symbols, and you should hold down the Shift key while scaling to maintain the proportions of the Title Block.

I hope this is helpful.
