I am wondering if there are folks out there that have a workflow that they like for showing normaling on audio patchbays. The method I have seen in hand-drawn block diagrams connects the X representing the top jack on the input to the X on the bottom jack or output with a line and then uses a text label of HN for half-normal for FN for full normal. A non-normal is indicated with no line connecting the two Xs. It seems like the patchbays that I am seeing in the symbol libraries are very compact and don't have much room for adding text.
Are these additional modifications to the symbol made on top of the symbol in the main drawing or in the symbol editor? Are these additions connected to the symbol with grouping?

Hi Hendrik,
You can see examples of Fully- and Half-Normalled patchbays in the library under Generic | Audio | Patchbays
In these symbols the 'normalling' graphic is integral to the symbol, but you can edit and delete elements in symbols using the Unlock Cursor.
To add elements to a symbol you should always create a new User Defined Product and add graphical elements using the Symbol Editor - see the movie "Adding New Symbols", #09 at https://www1.stardraw.com/stardraw/sd7/movies
