Hi
I'm fairly new to star draw. Designing a rack layout...
‌‌Hikvision products not showing up in user defined products. Appears in Selected Manufacturer Library, however nothing under user defined products. Other defined products are accessible, only Hikvision seems to be a problem.

A‌ny suggestions?

Have you created any Rack Layout symbols for the Hikvision UDPs?  The Product Browser is specific to the current drawing type and will only show a manufacturer if it has at least one symbol for the current drawing type.

Thanks Rob.
I‌ assumed that the Hikvision products come with standard symbols (already designed) to use in rack or block schematic drawings... I have since custom made a model-specific Hikvision UDP for these drawings and relating symbols. Is this the case for most products (need to be designed/customized according to model and connections)? As it can take some time - initially.
Im a newbie and i'm currently going through the videos...
T‌hanks for your response.

As you may already know, the symbol libraries are user-driven.  Users of SD7 request the products they require symbols for and we (Stardraw) go about obtaining data from manufacturer’s to enable us to create new symbols.

In the absence of good product data, we publish symbols that we term Based on Generics. These are typically simple outlines with text, for the Rack and Pictorial modules. We always provide an accurate Block Schematic symbol.
‌‌
HikVision is a relatively new manufacturer to the libraries, requested recently by a Stardraw user and a good example of symbols that have been based on Generics in the absence of good product data.  If in the future this should change and new product data surface, the Generic symbols will be replaced.

Manufacturers who provide good data are plentiful throughout the libraries.  Some good examples are Crestron, Extron, and Middle Atlantic.  These libraries alone consist of over 12,000 symbols representing over 5,500 products between them.

I hope this is helpful.

Kind regards
Kevin Harrison.
