Dongle Licensing vs Cloud Licensing

Admittedly, I am just an occasional user but when did the licensing switch from the USB dongle to cloud based?  I cannot even find anything about this in the forums or newsletters.  I just loaded 7.3 and it indicates that our license is expired but 7.2 shows that it is still valid.  Do I still need the dongle (I hope not)?

Hi Michael,

T‌he switch from dongle-based licensing to Cloud licensing was made with the introduction of Stardraw Design 7.2 (in 2016) for new users; support for legacy dongles ‌has been continued for existing users holding dongles used for earlier versions, but who have upgraded, since that time.

‌‌With the introduction of Stardraw Design 7.3, which is 64-bit, some older dongles which support only older, 32-bit drivers can no longer be used.  It sounds like you may possess one of these older dongles.

W‌e would be very happy to switch your current license to the Cloud, and in fact this is recommended for all users with a USB dongle.
