Hi. I noted that when scaling in Stardraw, an imported drawing from CAD that if a layer happens to be turned off then that layer is not scaled.
Surely this should not be so?

Hi Andrew,

Operations, like scaling, work on the objects that are currently selected. It is not a Scale Document command, it is a Scale Selection command.

If the objects on a hidden layer are not conjoined to a member of the current selection (e.g. the way a library symbol exists across multiple layers) then they will fall outside the selection and, being hidden, you cannot click on or drag around the objects on hidden layers to select them.  So when you Scale, you scale only what is actually selected.

This is all exactly by design.

Where drawings are spread across different layers and there is no relationship between the objects on different layers, just show all layers, Select All (Ctrl+A) and then Scale the selection.

However, when you import a DWG file, you are asked the scale to use on import.  This does apply to the whole document.  So, if you have imported the DWG at the wrong scale it's easiest just to throw that away and import at the correct scale.

I hope this is helpful.
