This update includes fixes and enhancements that are significant both in number and scale, improving robustness in operation and enhancing features available to users and the user experience in general.

  1. Significant update to Printing:
    1. Multi-page printing: where your print job contains multiple drawings they will be collated as a single, multi-page print instruction.  This means that when outputting to a PDF writer e.g. Adobe Acrobat or CutePDF, a multi-page PDF file is created, rather than an individual file for each drawing.  The multi-page file takes as its default filename the name of the project.
    2. In multi-page PDFs, each page takes its settings (e.g. page size, orientation, margins etc) from the appropriate drawing so the PDF file can contain different page layouts (e.g. portrait and landscape) depending on the drawings it contains.
    3. New Set All button in Print dialog.  This allows you to apply some or all of the current print settings to ALL drawings that are selected for printing.  Click on Set All and a new dialog allows you to confirm which settings, or if all settings will be applied to the drawings in your current print job.
    4. Auto-orientation.  In addition to manually defined Portrait and Landscape options, Page Orientation now supports auto-detection.  For example, a drawing that is wider than it is tall will automatically print in Landscape orientation.  New drawings have Auto set as the default orientation choice in the Print dialog.
    5. Change to the way printed margins are calculated which now disregards the non-printable areas of the printer.  This means that if you set margins all round of, for example, 1” or 2.5cm, the printed page will have a margin of 1” or 2.5cm as measured from the edge of the page (not as measured from the edge of the non-printable area).
    6. Fix to bug where the display value of Margins might change due to a conversion / rounding error, e.g. a margin set to 1cm might later display as 0.99cm.
    7. New message to confirm your intention if you have chosen to send drawings to different printers as part of the same print job.
  2. Cable Label tool updated so that a blank (null) label value will not overwrite/delete an existing Label value in the Cable object.
  3. Update to DWG/DXF Import dialog to allow you to select which drawing type (Plan View, Block Schematic, Pictorial Schematic, Rack Layout, Panel Layout) to create from the imported file.  If your license includes the Plan View module then this will be selected by default.
  4. Shell Open (in Windows, doubleclick on a file or rightclick and choose Open With…) can now be used to import DWG and S01 files: this creates a new project in SD7.1 containing the imported drawing.  Messaging relating to unsupported filetypes has also been improved.
  5. Update to Sign In dialog to allow the registration/creation of a new user account.
  6. Improved messaging if you attempt to sign in with an unregistered email address.
  7. Improvement and fixes to synchronization and handling of UDPs and Cable Presets.
  8. Update to sign in logic which ensures that UDPs are always available even if you have opened a project/drawing before sign-in handshaking has completed.
  9. Tools | Personalization | Manufacturer Libraries now waits until you are signed in to retrieve manufacturer listings, avoiding the error message that would be displayed if sign-in handshaking was incomplete.
